Kallazhagar Temple is in Madurai district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Kallazhagar Temple was constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture – 6th–9th centuries CE.
It is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
The Temple has one of the unique deities Chakaratalvar (Alvar) where the god with chakram having 16 hands and 16 weapons is without Narasimha above him.
Every Year The Great Chithirai festival is celebrated and Kallalagar starts from Alagar Kovil with Sathupattu and reaches Madurai on Pournami (Full Moon day).
Sathupattu color is decided and gifted to the God for every year and color represents the world future goodness of people and Agriculture.
Lakhs of devotees participate in to see this alagar enters into vaigai river.
The temple car ‘Amaiththa Narayanan’ is taken in procession during June month Pournami (Full-Moon day) of Adi (Brahmotsavam).
